The Polish army took over the first tanks of the type Leopard 2A5 from the surplus of the Bundeswehr. It happened on a contract basis from November 2013.
The machine will operate in the framework 34. armored brigade 11. armored division in Zaháni (34 Brygada Kawalerii Pancernej im. Hetman Wilkiego Koronnego Jana Zamoyskiego, 11. Lubuska Diwizja Kawalerii Pancernej im. Króla Jana III Sobieskiego, Żagań).
The unit should get a total of 119 tanks of the Leopard and the 105 in the version of 2A5, and 14 in the version of 2A4. Of the 49 pieces should be delivered by the end of this year, the rest next year.
