ATC LVSR

Chassis designed as a carrier of special superstructures for military purposes, designed for participation in the tender of the us marine corps (US Marine Corps - USMC) on the new heavy logistics vehicle LVSR (Logistics Vehicle System Replacement).

T815-7E0R89 was marked by pětinápravovým gear with the first and second axle driven mechanical system Tatravize 3000. Proceedings of the fourth and fifth axles designed in cooperation with the company ZF it was hydraulic. The chassis was designed in the configuration of 10x10, drive the last of the fifth axle was connectable. System ADM allows you to shift mezinápravových and the axis of the differentials under load for driving the vehicle. Suspension was addressed with the use of air bags on all five axles. Low cab conceptually based on the draft military of the cabin for a number of T815-7. Her interior was, according to the american legislation and the requirements of the USMC designed in the United states. The cab allowed for additional installation of auxiliary armour (in the basic version was fitted only under the cab floor), on the wishes of the customer, it was possible to procure a gun turret.

For the implementation of the task LVSR was responsible the american society of ATC (American Truck Company) - a subsidiary company of the corporation Terex (Terex at the end of 2003 it acquired a majority share - 80,5% - in the company Tatra, which in 2006 sold the company to Black River s. r. o.). ATC was formed as a joint venture Terexu and the Tatra mountains for trade, marketing and vehicle assembly and chassis of Tatra, which, under the terms of certain contracts had to be as the country of origin of the US and had to contain a portion of the parts made in the United states (in this way was implemented the supply of Tatra T815-6, respectively. vehicles ATC 6x6, to Israel under u.s. military assistance). Tatra in the case of the project LVSR was responsible for the conceptual processing of vehicle design, construction and production of bogie parts (axles, carrier pipes, suspension, steering and frame) for the construction of prototypes. ATC providesťovala mounting the engine, gear system, cab, air-conditioning and wiring of the vehicle.

Tender LVSR has listed the united states marine corps to replace the ageing hard terrain logistic vehicle series LVS, which were in the arsenal of the USMC introduced in 1985. LVSR should be initially dealt with as well as LVS - i.e., as a two-part vehicle consisting of a universal tractor and trailer module with a dedicated superstructure. USMC but in the end opted for the acquisition of conventional cars in the configuration of 10x10. On the basis of the submitted offers have been chosen two finalists, who advanced to the first round of selection process the selected SDD (System Development and Demonstration). After his termination, was then with the successful company awarded a contract for the second phase of the LRIP (Low Rate Initial Production) - production and test vehicles test series. The then assumption was that the USMC will purchase up to 1022 vehicle LVSR in versions of hook loader, semi-trailer tractor and recovery vehicle. In the first round were chosen by the two candidates, with whom she was 23. march 2004 awarded the contract for the production of three prototypes bearing the hákovými the loader. The first candidate to become the company ATC, which won the contract for the 5 586 033 USD. The second contender was Oshkosh (contract for 5 million USD), which previously produced trucks series LVS.

The us marines had on the vehicle LVSR the following the main technical-tactical requirements:
- useful load in the field: 33 000 lb (14 969 kg)
- useful load on the road: 45 000 lb (20 412 kg)
- the maximum weight of vehicles with trailer/semi-trailer: 200 000 lb (90 718 kg)
- the speed of 55 mph (88 km/h) with a payload of 45 000 lb on the carriageway is 2% (1°) pitch
- gradeability 60 % (27°) in the payload 33 000 lb
- the ability to operate on road and off road
- cabin for two persons and their gear and weapons (two rifles M16A2)
- cabin resistant to shooting from small arms and landmines
- the ability to transport standardized containers ISO and platform flatrack:
- platform PLS (Palletized Load System) of american ground troops
- platforms CROP (Container Roll-on/Roll-off Platform) of the american ground troops
- the ability to transport cargo without the need for him to dispose of/consist for the assistance of the other machinery and equipment
- ability to tow trailers established at USMC
- driving range at least 300 miles (483 km)
- easy maintenance
- increased resistance to corrosion
- transportability by water, rail and air for the vehicle with a useful load of 33 000 lb:
- the ability to transport aircraft C-5 Galaxy and a C-17 Globemaster III
- the ability to transport ships of class San Antonio and Whidbey Island
- the ability to transport vrtulníkovými airborne ships
- the ability to transport vyloďovacími boats LCM-8 and larger
- ability to transport (without payload) ships MPS (advanced naval ships)

ATC implemented the production of prototypes marked P1 to P4. Three of them were designed for practical tests at the customer, the last specimen served for the enterprise exam by the manufacturer. The final deadline for the handing over of three vehicles of the us marine corps was established on the 22. march 2005. Prototypes T815-7E0R89 were provided with hákovými the loader from the company HIAB for transport of ISO containers and platforms flatrack. On the wishes of the USMC to modify the loader so as to be able to transport smaller containers, bridge fields pontonového bridge IRB (Improved Ribbon Bridge) and the motor-boat. The prototypes passed the endurance and speed tests of 12 000
miles (19 200 km), performance tests and evaluation of the operation carried out by the technicians and maintenance staff of the us marine corps.

In the tender USMC finally succeeded competing Oshkosh, which for the needs of the us marine corps added the vehicles in the versions MKR15, MKR16 and MKR18. Vehicle T815-7E0R89 does not exceed the stage of prototype..
