The Greek air force during exercise LIVEX "White Eagle" at the missile range of NATO (NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI) - GPS: 35°34'22.56"N 24°10'26.04"E) on Crete for the first time knocked the missile from the air defense system S-300PMU-1 (SA-20A Gargoyle). This system of air defence Greece purchased 14 years ago.
System S-300PMU-1 was in Crete deployed after the "cyprus missile crisis" and on the island there are 2 battery consisting of 12 launchers (96 missiles).
Military exercise attended the Greek minister of defence Dimitris Avramopoulos, the cypriot defense minister Fotis Fotiou and a number of military attaches in Greece.
