During a patrol near Bangui in the central African republic there was a shootout. Two French paratroopers from the 8. members of the parachute regiment marine infantry (8e RPIMa) they were in a shootout severely injured. Despite immediate evacuation and transfer to the M’Poko failed to save.
The soldiers acted as part of operation Sangaris.
The dead are private 1. class (soldat de 1re classe) Antoine Le Quinio and private 1. class (soldat de 1re classe) Nicolas Vokaer. They are the first French soldiers who died as part of operation Sangaris.
