History
At the beginning of World War II, Bofors designers considered a successor to the famous 40 mm anti-aircraft gun. Therefore, they designed a new weapon with higher effectiveness in the target. A prototype was completed in 1944, but it was not as reliable and powerful as expected. So they went back to the proven design, which they redesigned to use the powerful 57 mm ammunition. The first customer for the 57mm anti-aircraft gun was the Belgian Army, which ordered 100 units in the 1950s. Sometime later, the Swedish Army also ordered 70 units. The charging system and other parts were taken from the naval variant of the 57mm Boforse, which is known as: lvakan m/50B. The 57mm gun battery was a four-gun battery and included a Cig 760 (or Cig m/48) fire control station that worked with the PS171/R surveillance radar. A Volvo 6x6 ltgb 934 was used to tow the gun

Diskuse

Dear,
using the internet, I've counted all the survivors of the 57mm anti-aircraft guns Bofors:

Koninklijk Leger Museum / Musée Royal de l'Armée, Brussels, Belgium
1 piece of equipment of the belgian army allegedly in the deposit of the museum.

First Wing Historical Centre, the air base Beanvechain, Belgium
1 piece of equipment of the belgian army in the deposit of the museum 1WHC.
According to the photos from the year 1998 there was stored about 6 pieces. What happened to them is not obvious.

Memorial of the fortress of Eben Emael, Belgium
1 piece of equipment, the belgian army is rusting in a meadow near the fortress.

Musee Airborne in sainte Mère-Église, France
2 pieces of well preserved, placed under the open sky. Probably this is the belgian variant, which supplants the non-existent north american cannon from a non-existent company.

Armémuseum, Stockholm, Sweden
1 piece of equipment of the Swedish army stationed in the deposit of the museum.
