In the swamps in the vicinity of Gierzwałdu, were found fragments of a German medium bomber Heinkel He 111, which the Luftwaffe lost in 1944, at the time, had this aircraft has its best years behind. Pomimo those parts of the aeroplane, which perhaps remained on the surface after the impact of the machine, occurred especially in recent years to collecting the various parts of the machine local citizens, who have this material sold in a scrapyard. Among the found fragments of the machine is located as well as on-board weapons, were also found documents of at least one squadron. It is believed that some parts of the aircraft, especially the engines will be zaryty particularly deep, and their extraction is rather not expected. Fragments of the machine will be stored in the Museum Lotnictwa i Techniki Militarnej in Rogowie.
