Hello friends, I have been following your forum for a long time and I have drawn a lot of information from it, but now I am partly at a loss Sad. I am looking for my great-grandfather who served in the 36th Infantry Regiment from Ml. Boleslav. I found out from VÚA that he was listed as missing on the Russian battlefield near Ostrov since 21.10.1914. According to my judgement, it should probably be Ostrov (W) near Przemyśl, but I don't know for sure, because I don't know where the 36th Regiment was at that time. What I do know is that it was supposed to be part of IX. Litoměřice Corps and at that time perhaps part of the 3rd Army. Are there any archival records of this regiment somewhere to look at or how and where to continue the search? Thank you all for the reply.

Dobrý den,

ještě 30. září 1914 byl pěší pluk č. 36 součástí 19. pěší brigády 10. pěší divize IX. sboru 4. armády...

K 10. říjnu 1914 už patřil s celým IX. sborem ke 3. armádě a bojoval severně od Přemyšlu...

Hello, I am again a little further along in my search Smile so I would like to share some info regarding the 36th Infantry Regiment for others who are also starting their search. According to Mgr. Žikes, the VHA Prague has barely a quarter of a carton of archival material on the 36th Regiment and this fund is not professionally processed and moreover this archive is closing this year for about 1 year Sad. But I also wrote to the museum in Ml.Boleslav where Mr. Sosnovec sent me a scanned article by Marie Salabová published in the Boleslavicaˇ68, which describes the history of this regiment including its movements in WW1. It also mentions the fighting in October 1914 near Ostrow where 6 centenarians (about 2 battalions) of the 36th Infantry Regiment were captured. I suppose that my great-grandfather was among those captured. So now I will try the State Archive of the Russian Federation- does anyone have any experience with this archive? Vl.Kulhavy
