Anton von Le Monnier was born into a family of office of the director of the Frankfurt bundestag, which then relocated to Vienna. Thanks to a scholarship from the emperor Ferdinand And. the settlement Löwenburgský konvikt and Theresianum.

In may 1843 he entered the austrian civil service. Started as office trainee at the district police headquarters in the vienna Wiedenu and continued as a court a clerk at the Police court office. In the years 1848-1849 he served as office director in the Central commission in the Main army headquarters in Hungary. In 1851 he was appointed high commissioner in Salzburg. Here then he has also served as the head of the commissariat and from the year 1853, the chief of police. In 1860 he was transferred to the Brno, where he held the same function. In the same year he was also appointed to the court by the council.

In 1869 he was promoted to noble status, to become a knight. In the same year took him to Vienna invited the minister of Giskra, who knew him from his earlier features of the brno mayor. Giskra appointed him representative of the viennese chief of police Strobacha von Kleisberg. When Strobach in the following year he retired he became a director of just Le Monnier. In the same year he was also promoted to the ministerial council. 7. June, him emperor named the first-ever viennese police president, and it to 1. July, 1873. However, Le Monnier 17. June died of inflammation of the lungs. The first chief of police became his successor Wilhelm Marx von Marxberg, however mostly as the first president placed no Le Monnier.
