Experimental tank project based on and using the Skoda ŠOT (TO) design. The technological innovation was the use of petrol-electric propulsion. The classic gasoline engine Avia TR-12a was to power an electric generator that produced electricity, which was harnessed to drive the drive wheels by means of two electric motors (each with an output of 48 kW at 1800 rpm).
The project originated at Skoda as a private initiative before the German occupation, and continued after the occupation, but the financially and design-intensive project was discontinued as of 12 February 1940. After the intervention of the German authorities, who showed interest in the project, the work was resumed. The prototype was produced using work-in-progress parts from the cancelled ŠOT. The prototype was built without a turret and passed its first driving tests on 6.10.1941. Subsequently, the prototype was supposed to be sent to the test centre in Kummersdorf, but this did not happen. The prototype was tested by the German military authorities on 4.12.1941 directly at the Skoda Works, the field tests took place at Třemošná near Plzeň.
Since no one from the competent German authorities commented on the prototype, the project was finally cancelled. The vehicle achieved very respectable driving results, the concept of a petrol-electric combined drive system was quite successful. The prototype was provisionally armed with a single heavy machine gun mounted in the front plate. Plans called for a gun in the turret up to 37 mm calibre. Another machine gun was to be coaxial with the cannon.
The prototype without turret covered a total of 475 kilometres, lived to see the end of the war and was subsequently cancelled in 1946.
