SOM-1
Multisensor reconnaissance vehicle operating in day and night conditions. The system is designed for surveillance of objects of interest and monitoring of areas of interest using basic sensor units and special surveillance systems. The system is characterized by computer support of the operator's work together with map bases, digital terrain model, digital magnetic compass, laser rangefinder and integrated GPS receivers.
SOM I consists of two Land Rover Defender 110 vehicles (command vehicle, logistics support vehicle) and a command vehicle trailer.
The sensor unit of the system consists of: - a two-axis manipulator - a colour CCD TV camera with zoom - IC cooled camera (or uncooled) - laser rangefinder - digital magnetic compass - GPS - PIR + geophone - close range warning system - tripod - seismic sensor receiver - seismic sensor kit - possibility of recharging from solar cell
Operator terminal consists of: - special single-purpose computer - colour flat TFT display - joystick and keyboard - optical communication with sensor units
The only SOM-1 kit produced was used by the Military Police from 2003 to 2010.
