Radio station of the RAF was fitted to the box bodies of cars ZIS-6.
In the course of the subsequent "war" modernisation of the used box body ZIS-5V, alternatively GAZ-AAA.
The post-war version RAF-KV-5 was in the cupboard nástavbách cars GAZ-63 (rare GAZ-51).

So gradually arose a series of new versions:
a) shortwave:
- RAF-KV (РАФ-КВ) 1940 – transmitter without the SV block, the receiver type of the US;
- RAF-KV-bis (РАФ-КВ-бис) in 1941 – at the transmitter replaced by a block of the exciter block of the radio station RSB, receiver type PC-2;
- RAF-KV-3 (РАФ-КВ-3) r 1942-44 – modified materials and the arrangement of the rack power supply, receiver type US-3S;
- RAF-KV-4 (РАФ-КВ-4) 1944 - features with for teletype "Carbide";
- RAF-KV-5 (РАФ-КВ-5) r 1946/49 – receiver US-1 or US-P; already the GAZ-63
