Puma (OEM Y-606 707), IDET 2017, Brno, June 2017. Unlike competing vehicles, presented at the brno fair (list given below) in the case of Bombs was about a serial vehicle established in the arsenal of the armed forces (German Bundeswehr).
After the termination of the IDET 2017 vehicle in the course of 5.6.2017 to 14.7.2017 received on the basis of the requirements of the Ministry of defence of the CZECH republic tests for VTU. This testing is also to participate in all competitive machines presented at the same event. Practical test completed cars:
- ASCOD BVP
- CV90 CZ (CV90 Mk III with the tower complete E30)
- CV90 CZr (CV90 Mk III with a tower complete of MCT-30)
- Lynx KF31

On the basis of the testing carried out have been obtained the necessary information for the decision-making process in the framework of the project of rearmament of the 7. mechanized brigade a new fighting vehicle of the infantry. In the framework of the tests were implemented following the verification or examination:
- detection of masses and dimensions
- dynamic parameters of the vehicle
- assessment of the overall configuration of the vehicle
- familiarization with the construction and parameters of the tower ensemble
- appreciation of the elements of the protection of
- evaluation of the transport capacity

The defective SPz Puma was the subject of an indignant letter to the German Ministry of Defence from Major General Ruprecht von Butler, commander of the 10th Panzer Division. In the letter, the commander reported that 18 SPz Puma were deployed during the Panzergrenadierbrigade 37 exercise and all had serious malfunctions during the exercise, such as: damaged electronics, ignited cables, malfunctioning gun turrets. The operational readiness of the SPz Puma is expected to be restored in three to four months.

The German Ministry of Defense has suspended the purchase of Puma SPz destined for the Very Joint Task Force (VJTF) until the causes of the vehicle failures are clarified and corrected. It is believed that 42 machines are involved, which have been rebuilt as per the VJTF requirement.

Christine Lambrecht, Minister of Defence stated, "I will give them a few weeks because we need reliable systems and not ones that can only be used in 2025".
A joint statement by Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann stated that they would repair the defective vehicles within two to three weeks.

Rheinmetall announced that it had repaired the electronics on 17 of the 18 crashed machines.

During a joint NATO force exercise in early December 2022, all 18 participating PUMA vehicles were removed from the Panzergrenadierbrigade 37 10th Panzer Division of the Bundeswehr. During their deployment, mechanical and electronics malfunctions occurred, one of which led to a vehicle fire.
By the end of the year, 17 vehicles had been repaired, with relatively minor, easily repairable, faults. In the case of the vehicle where cables started to smoulder, major damage was caused by the inappropriate use of a powder extinguisher.
Nevertheless, this event led to doubts about the acquisition of additional vehicles for the Bundeswehr's armament.
