Lance Corporal Stephen Lewis, of 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment was at the ceremony at Colchester's Merville Barracks awarded the u.s. Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He was awarded for his activities during the joint u.s.-british patrols on 28.3.2011. A patrol was sent to investigate suspicious activity in the Nahr-e-Saraj, Helmand province. The explosion nástražného equipment has been injured, 5 of 10 men of the patrol, among them the commander. LCpl Lewis took command, and arrange for first aid for the injured and their evacuation by helicopter and at the same time ensuring the defense of the remaining men.
