A Russian Pacific Fleet task force led by the missile cruiser Varyag is due to arrive in the Japanese port of Maizuru today. The group also consists of the tanker Irkut and a rescue tug. The visit, which includes a joint rescue exercise with the Japanese navy, will last five days. It is the first stop on a voyage to the USA and Canada. The ships will return home in early December.
