01.11.2002 ponorka vplouvá do doků loděnic General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, Groton CT , aby podstoupila výměnu paliva a zároveň prošla konverzí na nosič protizemních střel
označení plavidla oficiálně změněno na SSGN-726 USS Ohio
09.01.2006 po více jak 36 měsících byla dokončena přestavba plavidla. V průběhu ní byly rakety Trident (UGM-133A Trident II D-5) vyjmuty a sila upravena pro menší střely BGM-109 Tomahawk. Dále může přepravovat a vysazovat početnou skupiny speciálních sil US Navy (týmy SEAL′s)
07.02.2006 plavidlo se vrátilo do činné služby
