US authorities are investigating the loss of USD 6.6 billion in cash. The money belonged to Iraq. It was seized as part of sanctions against Saddam Hussein's regime. After his overthrow, they were sent to Iraq in 2003-4 to rebuild the country. They were transported by C-130 aircraft and handed over to the Iraqi authorities. Then they disappeared.
