As part of the consolidation of the development and eventual production of unified weapons carriers (waffenträgers), a waffenträger was built at the turn of 1944/45 on a platform using components from Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t), resp. Jagdpanzer 38 (t). There were two platform weight categories (light and medium). The light (leichte) had four wheels, the middle (mittlerer) had six wheels (later it was considered a heavy platform). A prototype steam tractor Škoda SK 13 had a similar six-wheeled platform. To make matters worse, there were also designs with five wheels in the plethora of designs. This particular vehicle was actually a kind of hybrid. The medium (heavy) platform most likely had six wheels (but only five wheels are clearly identified), but the vehicle had a rotating tower with a 10.5 cm howitzer le.FH18 , which was designed for light waffenträger. The tower was identical to the projected tank destroyer with an 8.8 cm anti-tank cannon. The armament was supplemented by the crew's personal weapons, or one machine gun. The prototype used the established components Pz.Kpfw.38 (t), resp. Jagdpanzer 38 (t), serial machines should use components Pz.38 "Reich" ( Pz .38 D). The vehicle was to bear the ground marking 10.5 cm le.F.H. 18/40/5 Mittlerer Einheitswaffenträger GW 638/21 (Device 578). There was also the cover designation Krupp I, which identified the versions on the 6-wheel medium platform (mittlerer waffenträger).
Due to the critical military and industrial situation in Germany, this project was not put into series. The last plans of the "Notprogram" (March 14, 1945) concerning the platforms Pz.38 (t) /Pz.38 D counted using only in the form of a tank destroyer Jagdpanzer 38 D and the Bergepanzer 38 D rescue tank.

Bežne dostupná fotografia upravená vo Photoshope (úprava sivej farebnej zložky). Úprava prevedená pre zvýraznenie počtu pojazdových kolies. V medzere, medzi zadnou dvojicou a 4. kolesom (odzadu) podľa mojeho názoru vidieť jemné kontúry ďalšieho kolesa. Úprava fotografie je prevedená pre oponentov, že sa jedná o štvorkolesovú verziu. Porovnával som i vzdialenosti jednotlivých komponentov stroja, a pomery dĺžok podľa dostupných výkresov/náčrtov/modelov.
