Plastic explosive Pl Np 10 belongs to the category of high-efficiency explosives. From a military point of view, it is one of the special engineering charges. It is a dirty gray plastic. Contains pentrite Np 10 and chemical binders. It is about 50% more effective than tritol. It is completely safe and reliable up to - 30 ° C during handling. It is not sensitive to impact, friction and shot. At temperatures of - 10 ° C and lower, its ductility deteriorates slightly and it is necessary to knead it more and warm it with your hands.
Unlike TNT cartridges, which already have a given shape and weight at the factory, which makes them difficult to assemble into charges, plastic explosives have the advantage of their ductility and easy divisibility. This allows the creation of mass-accurate shaped or directed charges that can be shaped according to the need, situation and nature of the torn object. Therefore, plastic explosives are especially suitable for precise tearing of various elements, such as door locks and hinges, various building beams and supports, pipes, rails, etc.
Ignition is performed by a time detonator, a detonator ( BP-1 detonator) or an electric detonator. In an emergency, in case of lack of detonators or BP-1 operation, it is possible to cause a plastic explosive to explode by means of a lightning rod so that the node formed at the end of the lightning rod line is placed min. 1 cm to a depth below the surface of the plastic explosive charge.
PL Np 10 plastic explosive is manufactured and supplied in cartridges ( bricks) weighing 2.5 kg and measuring 22.5 x 12 x 10 cm. The cartridges are packed in paraffin paper and are stored in shipping boxes of 6 pieces. The dimensions of the transport boxes are 44.5 × 31 × 24 cm and have a total weight of 22.5 kg ( of which 15 kg is explosive).
