CZK - vz.53 (železničný podvozok)

The lightweight dismountable unsprung railway chassis vz.53 is designed for transporting track spans on wooden sleepers ( up to 30 m long ) and bridge trestles ( up to 26 m long ) on normal gauge tracks.


The load is always stored on two bogies. The relative position of the bogies is maintained by the load rubbing against the support surfaces.


Chassis design


The support section is welded from profile steel and steel plate. Because the chassis is unsprung, its service life is limited.

- 2 crossmembers connecting the siderails to the coupling.

Rail chassis vz.53 and vz.53i are low unsprung chassis designed for transporting self-supporting loads on normal gauge railway lines. The bogies are mainly intended for the transport of track spans of max. 30 m in length during the construction and repair of railway superstructure. After simple adaptation, they can also be used to transport IP beams. The track fields are stacked on the two highest bogies in five layers symmetrically so that they show minimum deflections. The distance between the bogies must not exceed 17 m.


The actual weight of the load per bogie must not exceed 32 t for the Model 53, then 36 t for the Model 53i.


The bogies are not equipped with brakes. The relative position of the chassis when carrying loads is maintained by friction of the load on the storage surfaces. When passing through a curve, the chassis design allows mutual displacement of the chassis sides by up to 100 mm.


The chassis are completed with accessories, accessories for transporting IP beams, mounting and measuring aids.


The railway chassis vz.53 is of older production, the new chassis vz.53i has a 4 t higher load capacity. The principle of the overall arrangement of the vz.53 and vz.54i chassis is identical.
