HAL FGFA

From the beginning, India has participated significantly in the Russian PAK-FA T-50 project, primarily financially. To capitalize on the results of this 5th generation aircraft, the Russian Rosoboronexport and Indian HAL(Hindustan Aeronautics LtD) associations agreed to develop a joint export version, designated FGFA(Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft) - the 5th generation fighter aircraft.
The agreement for the joint development of FGFA was signed on 21.12.2010, during the visit of Russian President D.Medvedev to India. The development of the aircraft is to take (thanks to the results of PAK-FA) only 18 months, the launch of the first Indian 5th generation aircraft is expected in 2015. Propulsion of the aircraft is to be provided by the same engines as in the new Russian Su-35s from NPO Saturn, designated 117S, with vectored thrusters and a max thrust of 14.5 t each.
The Indian Air Force has plans to buy 250 FGFAs at a total cost of $25 billion, while Russia has an option tentatively for 50 FGFAs with which it plans to replace the obsolete Su-27UBs.
