Kriegsarchiv

I got this from the Krigsarchiv in Vienna today. In response to an enquiry about the fate of my relative in WWI, I received a negative statement and a copy of one sentence attached, concerning the brother of the wanted man. It reads : 22 February 1915 Anton Vlk Hlavice no.38, Český Dub district, Kriegveständigt ????????
Does anyone understand the meaning of the last word???

Dear Colleague,
I have the impression that you dropped the "small r" in the word you deciphered as: kriegverständing.

Furthermore, I have the feeling that it is not the word: krieg, because the curls remind me more of the term: brief.

The word verständig can be translated as:
- reasonable
- wise.
- clever
- judgmental
- knowledgeable

And couldn't it be "Brief verständigt", i.e. made known by letter?

I think it's Brief verständiegt, or verständigt. It could be: notified by letter.

Edit: The robot was faster.

Yes, it makes sense now, I sent them to the Kriegsarchiv a list of casualties, where Štěpán Vlk is listed as wounded in autumn 1914. They added that his brother Antonín Vlk was notified by letter on 22 February 1915. So I didn't move again, all I know is that he didn't survive the war. Either he died in hospital from his wounds or he recovered and after the disbanding of IR 36 was assigned to some Hungarian regiment where he died in the front line ... that's how I imagine it, because even the Kriegsarchiv didn't explain the facts.
Anyone who would like to know more about my search for the fate of Stepan Vlk can find out more on my website:
