Americké námořnictvo dnes v Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren překonalo vlastní rekord, když pomocí elektromagnetického děla (Electromagnetic Railgun) vystřelilo projektil s energií výstřelu 33 megajoulů.
To odpovídá výstřelu do vzdálenosti 110 námořních mil a rychlosti projektilu okolo Mach 5.
Předchozí výstřel v roce 2008 dosáhl energie 10 megajoulů.
Všechny tyto pokusy byly učiněny zatím jen v laboratorních podmínkách.
