In 1/1935, technical specifications for the development of a new assault tank to support infantry units were commissioned to the VTLU (Military Technical and Aeronautical Institute). It was a direct competitor of ČKD and its tank of the same specification P-II-b. The development of the Š-II-b is closely tied to an earlier project Š-II-a (LT vz.35). Lessons learned during testing Š-II-a revealed some shortcomings that were to be eliminated in the forthcoming Š-II-b. The nearly completed Š-II-b prototype was disassembled and modifications were made, mainly to the chassis and steering of the tank. The official order for the delivery of the prototype made of non-panned steel was placed on 13.1.1935. The prototype was to be delivered on 20.1.1936. The prototype was taken to the Assault Carriage Regiment 1 in Milovice, where military tests were to be carried out. The tank received the military registration number 13.637. The tests showed that the tank did not meet the army's requirements and was not accepted for armament. After the tests, the prototype was assigned to training tasks at the Assault Carriage Training School, in the state of which it was moved to Vyškov in 1937. Here, it lasted until the German occupation as part of training tasks. His further fate is unknown. Not even his photograph has survived.
