Mechanised Bridge Rig M18
The development of the mechanised bridge rig began with the predecessor company Williams Fairey Engineering Limited (WFEL) in 1996. In 2001, WFEL was awarded a contract to supply bridge assemblies to the US Army. The bridge system underwent military trials in 2002 at Fort Hood, Texas, followed by another in 2003 at Ford Avenue, Virginia. Outside the US, the M18 bridge assemblies were first deployed in Iraq in 2003. The U.S. Army is currently using these bridge systems in South Korea and Germany.
