V červnu spáchalo sebevraždu 32 amerických vojáků, nejvíce od dob vietnamské války. Z toho 21 bylo v aktivní službě, zbytek v Národní gardě nebo v záloze. Sedm se jich zabilo ve službě v Iráku a Afghánistánu. Od začátku tohoto roku spáchalo sebevraždu již 145 vojáků, v roce 2009 to bylo 245.
