From the attached file card from the personnel file, it is clear that Colonel P.V. Sokolov, whose last position was Chief of Staff of the 36th Rifle Corps, was taken prisoner in the area of the Ukrainian town of Zhitomir on 16.07.1941. He subsequently passed through several German prison camps and was liberated by the Allies on 21.04.1945. He was repatriated to the USSR on 02.09.1945 and was assigned to the 32nd Reserve Rifle Regiment, 32nd Reserve Rifle Division.
