M19 (60 mm mortar)
It was designed in 1942 to replace the M2 mortar. It was a very simple weapon unfortunately very inaccurate with imperfect stabilization. Therefore, it was decided to use a heavy M5 base plate, which increased the weight and the performance of the mortar was not convincing either. Production never reached the numbers of the M2 mortar.
After the war, the bulk of these mortars were immediately scrapped or exported. These mortars were last used during the Vietnam War.
In the Kand Army, where these mortars served, they were assigned to infantry regiments.
