Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me with identifying this photo. Since it was among my Great Grandpa's war photos I had initially assumed it was from his days in the Slovak army (1939-1944) but upon further Research, the cap badges do not seem to match those of that era's Slovak uniforms. I know He was in the Second Infantry regiment and was present when they were deployed around Bardejov (I have a signed photograph of him sent to his mother from Zborov on August 20, 1944) under Karol Heidler as a part of Mikulas Markus's 1st division. He got captured on his way back home and spent the rest of the war in an internment camp.

The strange photo has multiple soldiers wearing grenade-shaped field-cap badges.

Similarly, the officers are not wearing the typical eagle-shaped cap badge.

Here is the Whole photo

Any help with clarifying what those badges mean would be much appreciated

Also, do you know what the signs mean is it 50 days of deploymentt? or is it 50 days of conscription?
