Divisional Commander Nikolai Mikhailovich Bobrov
Nikolai Mikhailovich Bobrov was born on 18 November 1873 in the Vyksinsk plant in the Ardatovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod province (now Nizhny Novgorod region) in the family of a metalworker. In 1889 he graduated from a real school with an additional chemistry class in Vologda. In military service from August 1890 - junker military school in Moscow. Promoted to officer in August 1892. Participated in the Russo-Japanese and World War I, during the latter he commanded an artillery battery and a division on the Romanian front. He was twice wounded and bruised. After the February Revolution of 1917 he was a member of the Soldiers' Committee. His last rank and position in the old army was colonel, division commander of the 9th Siberian Artillery Brigade.
In the Red Army from June 1918. He took part in the Civil War on the Northern Front as chief of artillery of the Arkhangelsk District and 18th Rifle Division. Quote from Order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic No. 109 of 30 July 1923: "Awarded the Order of the Red Banner to Nikolai Mikhailovich Bobrov, Chief of Artillery of the Fifth Army, for military honours while he was Chief of Artillery of the 18th. Rifle Division, when in December 1918, during the capture of the village of Tarasovka under fierce machine-gun and rifle fire from the enemy, he made a significant contribution to the superiority of the battle in favour of the Red Army by the successful fire of his artillery. During all the fighting on the northern front, Comrade Bobrov, repeatedly finding himself under the heaviest enemy fire and putting his life in danger, constantly set an example of personal bravery and courage to the soldiers". He then fought on the Western Front against the Poles as an artillery inspector 15. Army; on the Southern Front against General Wrangel's troops as an artillery inspector of the 13th Army.
After the Civil War, he commanded the artillery of several military districts. In 1921-1922 - inspector of artillery of the Kiev and West Siberian Military District and the People's Revolutionary Army of the Far Eastern Republic. From 1923 to 1924, chief of artillery of the 5th Army. From June 1924 - inspector of artillery of the Volga military district. A year later he was appointed inspector of artillery and armament of the Ukrainian Military District. From November 1926 chief of artillery of the same district. In 1927 he graduated from the advanced training courses for commanders at the Frunze Military Academy. In 1928 he was on a tour of duty in Germany for two months. From March 1931 he was chief of artillery of the Volga Military District. After a short time he was again appointed chief of artillery of the Ukrainian (from 1935 Kiev military district).
He was arrested as part of the purges in the Red Army (the so-called Great Terror period) on 29 June 1937. On 9 September 1937, the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR sentenced him to death on charges of participation in a military conspiracy. The sentence was carried out on the same day.
He was rehabilitated by the decision of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of September 17, 1957.
