lieutenant general Otto Drescher
He was born 05.10.1895 in the Nickel in Moravia, 1910 to.in.to. cadet, later lieutenant of the infantry. For the first world war he commanded a platoon and company in various austrian and German commando battalions on the eastern, western and Italian front. The war ended with the rank of lieutenant, three times wounded, awarded the Iron cross of both degrees, and medals for bravery in silver. 1919 he fought in the Freikorpsu "von Hülsen", 1920-35 an officer with the provincial police for the last time as a major in Düsseldorf. 1936 reactivated as a major and assigned to the staff of infantry regiment 59. The Polish campaign had as a commander, a lieutenant colonel and commander of the II. battalion in infantry regiment 74 in the assembly 19. motorized infantry division. The western campaign once again as the commander of the battalion in the assembly 295. infantry division. 20.04.1941 promoted to colonel. On the eastern front already commanded 434 infantry regiment in the assembly 131. infantry division. The first proposal for the award of the Knight's cross of the 08.1941 rejected, instead, awarded the 29.01.1942 the German cross in gold. After the spring battles awarded 06.1942 the Honor clasp of the army. In the fall of 1942 wounded. 1943 deployed on the southern section of the eastern front. From 03.1943 take command of 35. infantry division, 06.1943 took over the command of the 267. infantry division, promoted to the rank of major general 15.05.1943. exit the fight in the Rževském spur, positional combat at Mogileva. 01.03.1944 named in the reports of the Wehrmacht. 06.04.1944 awarded the Knight's cross in the rank of lieutenant general (from 01.12.1943). His division was destroyed in the opening hours during the soviet summer offensive in Mogileva 1944. Drescher himself was during the retreat of the wounded and 13.08.1944 in the field of Jagstellen close to the border of East Prussia and Lithuania killed by the partisans. His grave is found in Lankininkai.
