PMS

This is a soviet pontoon bridge kit PMP manufactured under license from about the mid-sixties in Czechoslovakia. Production took place in the race Slovácké strojírny n. c. Uherský Brod at least until the end of the eighties.

For the transport of pontoon parts is gradually used trucks:
T-138
T-813
T-815.

Pontoon bridge set PMS is a standardized folding bridge structure on floating supports, designed for the establishment of bridge and ferry crossings.

The kit material can be used to construct bridges on floating abutments of 20 t and 60 t capacity, and through trusses of 20 to 70 t capacity.
A 60 t capacity bridge allows tanks to pass at speeds of up to 30 km/h while maintaining a 30 m spacing / which equates in metres to the speed of travel in km. /.
The transport capacity
of the 60 t bridge is 600-800 tanks per hour, in adverse conditions only 250-300 tanks.

The PMS was introduced into service in 1967.

Main data:
Whole kit 60 t / 20 t :
Road width : 6.500 mm / 3.290 mm
Max. Bridge length : 227 m / 382 m
Operator : 68 engineers + 34 drivers
Half of the 60 t / 20 t set :
Road width : 6.500 mm / 3.290 mm
Max. Bridge length : 119 m / 193 m

Crew : 36 engineers + 18 drivers

Details of pontoon parts : river / coastal
Load capacity : 20 t / 10 t
Draught - dead weight : 190 mm / 230 mm
- when loaded to full weight : 650 mm / 510 mm

PMS main parts :

- 32 river parts on Tatra T-138 or T-813
- 4 paving slabs 2 x 40 m - T-813
- 2 sets of submersible accessories, tools and attachments - T-813
- 12 pusher motorboats MO-634 with chassis towed behind cars with road slabs and trucks.

The river section is used to assemble the river section of the bridge on floating supports. By directly joining these parts, the river section of the bridge can be built with a load capacity of 60 t in lengths of 675 mm increments.

Main parts of the river section
:
- 2 middle pontoons
- 2 underhung pontoons
- pontoon mechanisms and equipment,
- coupling mechanisms and equipment of the part,
- removable gear.

The Coastal part is used to create transition parts between the river part of the bridge and the shore and to construct the shipyard. The open coastal section forms part of a 60 t bridge with a length of 5,500 mm.

Main parts of the coastal section :
- 2 middle pontoons,
- 2 underhung pontoons,
- 2 middle ramp girders,
- 2 extreme ramp girders,
- pontoon mechanisms and equipment,
- machinery and equipment parts,
- removable gear.

Main data of cars for transporting pontoon parts T-813 / T-138 :

Dimensions in mm :
Length : - with river part : 9.900 / 9.720
- with coastal section : 8.710 / 8.630
Width : - with river section : 3.190 / 3.190
- with coastal section : 3.210 / 3.210
Height : - with river section : 3.730 / 3.570
- with coastal section : 3.700 / 3.590
Weight in kg : - with coastal section 22.100 / 18.100
Wading in mm : 140 / 40

Transportation by rail is carried out in a dismantled state / pontoons are composed of cars / the set is transported on railcars of type Pao/ 4 axle /, Nas or Px / 6 axle /. Motorboats are transported on chassis.
Coastal and river parts can be transported by Mi-6 helicopters by hanging them on ropes and transferring them from one water obstacle to another.
